Hospice. Palliative. Care. Love.

A few years ago I had very little understanding of the field of hospice and palliative care. Then I found myself employed as a caregiver in a memory care facility and fell deeply in love with the work and my memory care residents. I quickly became familiar with the hospice teams caring for our people and was captivated by the love and knowledge they poured into their roles. 

The pandemic began, and I became fully immersed in the realm of end-of-life care. Over the last 2 years I have been intimately connected to hospice work, family caregivers, and have had the great honor of walking beside many incredible souls as they transitioned out of this world. I learned that while end-of-life care is often heartbreaking and difficult, it is also powerful, important, and absolutely sacred. In my opinion, one of the greatest gifts we can give people is death on their own terms, offering as much comfort and peace as possible.

End-of-life care teams are made up of some of the most compassionate humans I've ever met. MNHPC is an organization made up of many of these amazing people - physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, spiritual care providers, bereavement professionals, therapists, and many others. MNHPC is committed to advancing access to, knowledge about, and quality of hospice and palliative care in Minnesota. We provide education and advocacy and create literal and figurative space for important conversations around end-of-life topics. MNHPC strives to ensure that everyone has the help they need to live and die according to their wishes.
