Why We Need You

Our girls need your help.  Many of the girls who participate in Girls Taking Action face high suspension rates, teenage pregnancy, bullying and dependence on social welfare systems  during their years in high school. Most of the girls in our program come from historically marginalized communities of color or are immigrants with English as their second language. At Girls Taking Action we  value, lovability, importance and personal power exist regardless of circumstance.  

What We Do

 Motivate, Mentor, Engage and Educate Girls to Succeed in School and Life! 

Girls Taking Action works with girls to help them fulfill their potential as students and individuals. We support girls in making decisions that will help them be strong students, have healthy relationships with friends and family and become productive members of their community as adults. By doing so, we help build the future workforce, reduce the costs of some social programs and reduce disparities in Minneapolis. 

2017-2018 Impact Results 

• 92% Increase in School Attendance 
• 86% Decrease in School Suspensions 
• 75% of Graduating Seniors Enrolled in College
• 100% of Girls Attended at least one college visit, workplace tour and/or a community field trip
• 100% of Girls conducted a service learning project 
• 95% of Participating Girls graduated ON-TIME

These steps have changed the trajectory of girls’ lives, families and communities throughout the world. But the work doesn’t stop there!

• $300- Field Trip Funds
• $800- Supports a ½ year of GTA program
• $1,500- Supports ONE GIRL'S FULL YEAR of GTA PROGRAM 
• $2,500- Supports  the COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND (EVERY  GTA Graduate gets a scholarship)

GTA supports over 600 GIRLS across the world.

It takes $1,500.00 for one girl to participate in our program for a year.  We need YOU to partner with us in changing the trajectory of a life of a GIRL!

OUR  GOAL is to have 100 people to sponsor a girl for a year, for a total support of $150,000.
