Help us support LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees during this time of need!

Imagine trying to fight COVID-19 in a refugee camp when there is no soap.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees are disproportionately affected and are one of the most vulnerable and at-risk groups in the world right now.

Currently there are hundreds of LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees, who have fled violence and death threats in their countries, waiting to apply for asylum in Kenya where homophobia and transphobia is rampant. And now, the pandemic has made their lives increasingly harder.

Most live in urban areas or cramped camps where simple hygiene is difficult, health care is basic and social distancing is nearly impossible to achieve. This means the virus can spread fast and with damaging effects.

This group is particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, as they have higher rates of HIV in the community and are struggling to earn an income to pay the rent.

Your donation will go towards:

  • Providing urgent support and basic protection to LGBTIQ refugees to stay healthy and slow the spread of the virus.
  • Supporting livelihood programs, including the LGBTIQ refugee-led soap making business in Kakuma Refugee Camp, helping refugees stay safe from the virus while generating income and learning skills.
  • Providing rent relief and food costs for the community.

This Pride Month, show your pride by making a gift!
