Whether you're a MATHCOUNTS participant, coach, volunteer, or parent, you have seen the impact of MATHCOUNTS on students' lives.

For coaches, MATHCOUNTS is an opportunity to invest in the development of students -- socially as well as academically. One coach told us that, "This is a unique and rewarding life experience for students. Just being here helps shape identity and gives confidence to attempt further math/engineering endeavors."

Students, too, know the program is much more than an academic experience.

We survey students participating in the state competition. Their responses help us see how this experience makes a difference. Here's what three mathletes at the 2018 State Competition told us about MATHCOUNTS:

  • "I learned and grew a lot, and I made good friends. I also reached where I never would have otherwise math-wise."
  • "I liked how I was treated here (the state competition), and it was a fun experience. I got to be around people who like math as much as me."
  • " This (the state competition) makes me want to study and achieve to be better in math."

MATHCOUNTS is one of the oldest and most successful education partnerships, involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students. In Minnesota, MATHCOUNTS has been reaching out to students and teachers since 1983.

Now, can we count on you to help bring MATHCOUNTS  to even more students?

Bring MATHCOUNTS to the next generation

We're aiming to raise $3,089 (a prime number) to fund our volunteer-led math enrichment, coaching and competition programs. Of that, we are challenging our alumni and supporters to raise $2,089 (another prime).

We've chosen a prime number to recognize the prime role our alumni and supporters play in our ability to partner with teachers and professionals to share math with students.

You are already part of a community of people who have benefited from programs that awaken students'  passion for math. When you donate on November 15 for Give to the Max Day, you will join an even closer community of people who know the importance of bringing these opportunities to a new generation of students.

Two ways to give

Just like the simplest math problem, every number counts on Give to the Max Day: every supporter, every donation, every share on Facebook.

Schedule a  donation for November 15! When you donate on Give to the Max Day, your gift is eligible for GiveMN rewards that can multiply your impact. Give throughout the day to increase your chances of winning.

Or, for the first time, this year you can set up your own fundraiser for MATHCOUNTS. Set a prime goal (try 101, 157, 211, 317, 443, or 509!) and let your friends and colleagues know how they can support math students -- and a strong future for our state!

MATHCOUNTS counts on you

Whether you volunteered as a coach to building up math skills for middle schoolers, supported your student in exploring math and STEM careers, or participated as competitor, you made MATHCOUNTS what it is. And you played a part in building a stronger community. Thank you for your contributions then -- and thank you for your gift today.
