$10,000 goal

Donate to Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (the Center for Workers United in Struggle) to support low-wage workers knowing their rights and developing their leadership!

Since the start of the pandemic CTUL has adapted to meet our communities' emerging needs while also continuing the long-haul work of developing leadership for systemic change. Help us raise $10,000 to cover 5 workers' participation costs for our School for Leadership in Action, planned for Spring of 2022!

In addition to holding many online membership meetings, campaign committee meetings, and one-on-one leadership coaching sessions during 2020 and 2021, CTUL also conducted two online cycles of Leadership School, graduating more than 50 participants.

This is a 40+ hour intensive program where BIPOC and immigrant workers come together across differences in language, background, and industry. Together they learn about the history of the labor movement and other peoples' movements for justice, avenues for civic engagement and advocacy, and how to organize their fellow workers. We are excited to be planning for our first in-person School for Leadership in Action since February 2020!

As the name implies, this is not a traditional passive learning experience but rather a Popular Education-based curriculum that stresses learning through conversation and participation. Guided by seasoned facilitators, workers explore how the concepts introduced relate to their own life experiences, and together they plan and execute a series of events (marches, rallies, press conferences, forums, teach-ins, street theater, nonviolent direct actions) to build momentum toward systemic change.

CTUL's School for Leadership in Action is offered free of charge to workers who have taken some initial steps on their leadership development journey and are ready to take it to the next level. Your donation helps us to eliminate the barriers that would otherwise hold many low-wage workers back from participating.

A $2,000 Leadership School 'scholarship' covers:

-Transportation

-Childcare

-Meals

-Simultaneous interpretation

-Stipends to cover lost wages

Help us send 5 BIPOC and immigrant workers to Leadership School by making a donation toward our $10,000 Give to the Max Day goal!
