I can't wait to join with the Cool Planet team and fund raise again for racing in the largest ski race in North America- the American Birkenbeiner this February!
If you haven't heard of it, it's a huge ski race that happens every year and it's named after a similar Norwegian event commemorating an important part of history. Well this year, through the work of Cool Planet volunteers we are also co-sponsoring the international premiere of "Saving Snow" a film dedicated to connecting the dots between climate change and the impact that shorter, less reliable ski seasons are having on local economies.
"Saving Snow" is produced by Adaptation Now, a production outfit impassioned to explore with film how climate change already affects us today and how different communities are working to address this challenge and empower audiences to act in meaningful ways.
Across the country, people who depend on winter for their livelihood are feeling the heat. On the sidelines of skiing and snowboarding, an epic struggle to reverse rising temperatures is unfolding. Ski towns and the snow sports industry are paving the way towards a clean energy future.
I have been involved with Cool Planet, a partner with Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) for over seven years. Cool Planet exists to inspire ordinary people to take extraordinary actions to slow the climate crisis and they support the regional work of CCL. Citizens' Climate Lobby exists to help build the popular and political will to have a livable climate by slowing carbon emissions and moving urgently towards a clean, renewable energy future.
