Dear Friends,

I support The Reading Center because I am the parent and grandparent of children who have been greatly helped by The Reading Center.

My granddaughter Teagan is a high school student in Rochester.   She was tutored for many years by compassionate, well trained tutors and is now a confident senior in high school with college aspirations. Like you, I have seen her grow as a student and can attribute her successes in part to the access she had to trained Reading Center professionals who had the skills to teach her to read.  Teagan’s success would not be possible without The Reading Center. And we can only reach kids like her with your help!

The Bright Futures Campaign raises funds to enable The Reading Center to invest in training tutors to teach students like Teagan.    We raise funds to provide scholarships to families who struggle to afford the cost of testing and tutoring.  For almost 70 years, The Reading Center has been turning around the lives of struggling readers, and we are reaching more kids every year.

Your donation to The Reading Center does so much good!  Almost half of the money we raise funds scholarships for tutoring, testing, and training.  Your donation underwrites the life-changing programs like our summer Best of Basics Program, our Orton-Gillingham Training Institutes, FREE screenings for 4-6 year olds, and FREE educational outreach programs in our community.

Please join me in making a gift to The Reading Center during the Bright Futures Campaign this year.   Our goal is to raise $75,000 and due to the generosity of the Rochester Scottish Rite Children’s Foundation, we have $10,000 in matching funds to double your donation!

Here’s how The Reading Center can use your donation:

  • $50 could help a family in-need pay for one week of tutoring so that a student may reach his or her potential.
  • $100 could buy supplies for one entire classroom of students with reading struggles during Best of Basics Summer School so they may begin their school year with more skills in the fall.
  • $250 could help a family have their child tested at The Reading Center in order to put the student on a path to success through OG tutoring.
  • $500 could support a 50% scholarship to help an adult learn the OG approach to help children learn how to read.

There are many ways to give. You can: (1) return your envelope with a check or pledge by mail to The Reading Center, (2) visit www.TheReadingCenter.org and give online, or (3) set up a sustaining gift to comfortably spread your donation out over the year.

I am proud to support The Reading Center financially.   Please join me to ensure that The Reading Center continues to be an invaluable source of support and expert instruction for all dyslexic students. Your support of The Reading Center’s mission makes a real and direct difference to students struggling with reading. You have the power to give struggling students a Bright Future.

Gratefully,

Ginger Holmes, Campaign Chair
