MN State Academy for the Blind students have challenges that range from low vision to multiple disabilities. Assistive technology is invaluable in capturing students' curiosity and engaging them in learning, paving the way to independence. Would you help us fund a portion of these needs?
Topaz HD XL Monitors
These desktop video magnifiers provide high-definition magnification with the sharpest image and the crispest text, allowing for low magnification levels that fit more text on the screen for faster reading and better comprehension with less fatigue. We want to purchase this assistive technology to replace aging equipment located in our classrooms, dorms and common spaces on campus - to help students who already grapple with many educational, social and physical challenges.
Magnilink TAB
This piece of equipment becomes a complete and mobile tablet solution with high performance and user-friendly operation that allows its viewer to a) magnify text or b) study an object. It's a mobile information center for the visually impaired and these units will be shared in the classroom and checked out for personal study.
Qbraille
This device almost perfectly blends a Braille Display and a USB Keyboard. It allows a Braille user to type in Braille while being able to perform all the shortcuts and commands needed with standard keyboard keys on a PC or Mac. The whole process becomes streamlined so that the student can also have a text reader and can do 7 simultaneous connections, including hybrid modes that allows you to enter with a Qwerty keyboard but then export in Braille
