CycleBar Minneapolis RECLAIM Fundraiser

RECLAIM is the only financially accessible trans-specific youth mental health organization in our region. With your support we work to increase access to mental health support for queer and trans youth, so they might reclaim their lives from oppression in all of its forms.

Mental health is the foundation on which trans youth build full lives. Your support has made it possible for the 90+ queer and trans youth who come through our doors each week to tell their stories in ways that make them stronger.

In response to the need for increased nonprofit support during these times, GiveMN is hosting #GiveAtHomeMN.  If you donate through our GiveMN page between midnight Friday, May 1, 2020 and 11:59 pm on May 8, 2020 we have the opportunity to receive matching bonus donations of $250 each hour (through a random drawing of donors that hour) and possibly a $2,500 daily bonus. We also have a generous donor who has pledged $5,000 in matching funds for this campaign.

Even with the Stay at Home order RECLAIM is still offering mental health diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis counseling, and individual/family/group therapy. The potential impacts of social distancing and family economic loss are dire for our youth, many of whom are already deeply acquainted with social isolation based on intersecting identities of gender, race, and class. We currently have a 6-month waiting list for client care and the most vulnerable youth are prioritized. We also expect increased need, as our youth are particularly vulnerable to the impact of COVID- 19 due to systemic oppression and barriers to accessing resources. This is why we need your support over the next week.  

Please consider donating this week. We need supporters like you to continue to lift up our youth. Your donation of any amount this week will assist us in continuing to serve clients and with matching funds hopefully increase the number of youths we can serve. For example:

• $1000 ($83/month) provides an uninsured youth with a month of weekly therapy for a month, along with the weekly caring accompaniment we provide to all clients.
• $500 ($42/month) supports ten BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) youth to attend an evening of our new BIPOC-specific support group.
• $120 ($10/month) supports two youth to participate in RECLAIM’s weekly Gender Exploration Group, a space for healing, connecting, and building community.
