Update posted 5 years ago

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Since Thursday 12/13, we raised $1000 from individual donors, and one anonymous donor matched that! This is an incredible amount of progress in such a short time...we could not have done it without all of your help. We're nearly halfway to $10K! Let's keep up the momentum!

River's Edge Academy (www.riversedgeacademy.org) has been providing small class sizes, experiential learning, and a safe and supportive environment for our students for over a decade. Now, we need your help to keep serving students for another 10 years! Any amount helps support our students, programs, and school. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by our 10 year celebration on May 10th, 2019.

Donation Levels:

  • Leaf ($1 - $50): Give up to $50 and receive a REA sticker
  • Branch ($50 - $200): Give up to $200 and receive an REA sticker and have your name on the donation tree plaque
  • Trunk ($200 - $500): Give up to $500 and receive an REA sticker, your name on the donations tree plaque, and a student-made product that is typically sold at the farmer’s market
  • Roots ($500+): Give up to $500 and receive an REA sticker, your name on the donation tree plaque, and a student-made cutting board

Your donation goes to support:

  • Expeditions (50%): REA is dedicated to offering outdoor expeditions as part of our commitment to environmental learning. All students go on hiking, biking, canoeing, or climbing trips twice a year as part of our school's curriculum. These trips instill strong environmental stewardship among our students, as well as giving them the opportunity to take learning outside the school building and develop relevant skills for life!

  • Fieldwork (30%): Each Wednesday, students leave the building to participate in off-site learning trips, which we call Fieldwork. Trips like these often require admission fees or transportation costs. Each quarter students participate in five types of Fieldwork:

    • Academic Fieldwork, like going to the Orpheum Theater in Physics class to learn about the properties of sound engineering;

    • Elective Fieldwork, such as heading to the Hmongtown Marketplace for World Language;

    • Crew Service Fieldwork, including volunteering community service hours at an organization like the food bank at Neighborhood House;

    •  Environmental Fieldwork, like picking up litter on the mile of the Mississippi River that REA adopted;

    • College & Career Fieldwork, such as going on college visits or participating in a job fair.

  • Pay off a student's lunch balance (10%): There is no way to study if you don't have proper nourishment. Since we started meal services at REA,  we have made the decision to offer every student a meal regardless of their ability to pay. Your donation will go in part to paying off an overdrawn lunch balance, either in part or in full.

  • School supplies (10%): We want all of our students to have the basic supplies they need to succeed in the classroom even if they cannot purchase their own. Your donation will contribute to stocking up on basic supplies like paper, folders, pens, pencils, and three-ring binders.
