Hope for Tomorrow, a 501c3 organization has been active in the Bloomington schools since 1997. Currently we have three chapters; girls chapters at Oak Grove Middle School and Valley View Middle School and a boy’s chapter at Valley View Middle School.
Each mentee is paired with a volunteer adult for the school year. We work throughout the year to guide and coach our young teens to develop and build their important life skills. Sessions include First Impressions, Healthy Balance, Self Respect, Attitudes and Choices and learning how to turn dreams into goal and accomplishments. We have two field trips during the school year, one to a corporate campus and the other to a college campus.
We also have an Alumni Chapter at Kennedy High School where we meet with past mentees three times each school year. We have established a Hope for Tomorrow Alumni Scholarship Fund which grants scholarships to past mentee graduating seniors who meet the scholarship criteria. Scholarships are awarded at the Kennedy High School Awards Night. During the past three years we have awarded scholarships totaling $4000.00.
Our expenses each year include:
- Mentor training
- Speaker/Outside facilitator thank you gift cards
- Mentee/Mentor printed information/ binders
- Field Trip expenses
- Materials for Alumni group sessions
- End of year memento for Mentees
- Kennedy High School Alumni Scholarship Fund
The current Annual Operating Budget for the three chapters is $2,600.00.
Our goal each year for our Scholarship Fund is to raise an additional $1,800.00.
Our means of financing our three chapters in Bloomington is through donations from generous contributors like you.
We are grateful for any amount you can find in your heart to donate. We appreciate your support of the Hope for Tomorrow mentees in Bloomington.
