Emerson Spanish Immersion Learning Center is an exciting place to learn! Emerson students are bilingual, bi-literate, global citizens.

The Emerson Spanish Immersion Learning Center is a dual language immersion program for native English and native Spanish speaking students serving students Pre-K - 5th grade. All students learn to read, write and speak in both Spanish and English.

Immersion education provides a unique academic experience in which students master Minneapolis Public Schools curriculum standards and learns Spanish or English as a second language during the elementary years when languages are most easily learned and retained.

Teachers incorporate a variety of strategies to make the target language more meaningful to the student and provide the student enough exposure to practice, use and broaden their own vocabulary. Higher level thinking skills are taught throughout this immersion experience. This culturally rich environment helps students grow in their understanding and appreciation of themselves and others to become global citizens.
