Agassiz Environmental Learning Center

The Agassiz Environmental Learning Center's mission is to foster a greater awareness of the interrelationships between humans and nature.   Agassiz Environmental Learning Center (AELC) is located in the heart of the Sand Hills of Fertile, MN; an area rich in diversity with sand dunes, oak savannas, prairies and riverine forests along the banks of the Sand Hill River.  The site covers 640 acres and includes over 10 miles of hiking and cross country ski trails, a campground, and a nature center with restroom facilities, kayak, ski and snowshoe rentals and a meeting room for classes, meetings and community events. AELC staff and volunteers offer programming to students and community members including nature study, conservation education, outdoor recreation, and environmental education.
