HoneyWorks is not interested in isolating dance in the dance field, nor making work that is relevant for only individuals with similar artistic training. As an organization based in a collaborative spirit, we aim to create truly unique performances that expand both dance and other artistic fields by uniting the two, and ultimately encouraging others -- in all walks of life -- to live more inclusively with the people and planet around them. HoneyWorks has been building work in the community since 2016.

Founder and Artistic Director Berit Ahlgren has choreographed work for St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, Winona State University and Carlton College, as well as for the The Southern Theater, filmmaker J.J. Kaiser, and the Cowles Center. As a producer, HoneyWorks has facilitated a series of Artist Salons since 2016 featuring works-in-progress from local actors, musicians, painters, film makers, supported the development of chamber music concerts, built silent auction dinners, launched successful crowd funding campaigns, and co-created an outdoor performance event, “Live @ The Shed”.

HoneyWorks is based in the movement language of Gaga, a form of improvisational dance started in Israel. This movement practice is meant for not only for actively training dancers, but for anyone to participate, regardless of age, ability, background. Ahlgren is the only certified Gaga instructor based in Minnesota and has lead consistent open classes at Zenon Dance, as well as specialty workshops throughout the region, since 2012. This offering engages HoneyWorks with a wide mix of participants, many of whom would not be engaged with dance or have a direct link to artistic performance, otherwise.

HoneyWorks is proud to be fiscally sponsored by Springboard for the Arts.
