The Hmong Cinderella: A Mother's Love (A Musical)

Puab thaum ub ov, there was a magical tale of a family from a village in Laos.  They were farmers and they were poor, but their one wish would become the sacrifice that would change the family's destiny forever.  

This is a story of survival, love, betrayal, and hope—a story of a mother who bears the weight of her family's burdens and whose unwavering love for her only daughter changes the course of their lives.

This musical also has its own local history.  In 2007, two college students, Kao Yee Xiong and Xiong Pao Lee, decided to put their heads together to write an original musical based on a traditional Hmong folktale.  They recruited local high school talent to help create the music, acting, and choreography.  Ahead of its time, the production premiered at Saint Paul's Central High School with every single show sold out.  The Hmong community was able to see their proud culture on stage through music and theater.
