As part of its mission, Minneapolis Choir Collective premieres new works from contemporary and underrepresented composers, and we use our concerts to connect our audiences to local social justice causes. This fall, we set out to program a concert of specifically antifascist music—music that speaks to the injustices our communities our facing today, and our collective action to build a better future—before realizing that there simply isn't much, if any, contemporary antifascist choral music that already exists.
For our November 2026 concert, Minneapolis Choir Collective is commissioning powerful new repertoire. We will premiere eight new works from established and up-and-coming composers centered around the theme of antifascism. This is an ambitious project, and we are fundraising to support the cost of compensating these eight composers to write new works:
Anthony Sims
Evan Blanché
Kat Ioco
Katherine Dalton
Klo Garoute
Natalie Fasheh
Nora Farley
Oliver Stockert
We can't wait to share these new works with you in November. Beyond just this concert, these new works will live on, adding important new choral repertoire that speaks to our current political moment and our collective future. Thank you for supporting Minneapolis Choir Collective and local composers!
