Patty’s Birthday Fundraiser Supporting BrainPower

It’s no secret that Patty loved kids. As as a dedicated classroom volunteer and scout leader in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, she got to know the Burnsville community through the eyes of its most curious and youngest learners. She was passionate about unlocking the secret gifts and talents of every child she met and, over the years, changed the lives of dozens of kids who didn’t have a cheerleader like her at home. She was a faithful advocate for children and ended many heated political conversations with, “can we just agree that no child should go hungry?” She meant it!

What Is BrainPower in a BackPack?

BrainPower in a BackPack is an ISD 191 student volunteer project done in conjunction with ISD 191 Community Education. BrainPower is funded solely through monetary donations and food drives.  Burnsville high school students pack weekend food packages for preschool, elementary and middle school students throughout the district whose families struggle to put enough food on the table.  

How Does BrainPower in a BackPack Work?

During the school year, BrainPower plans to provide more than 800 students with a bag of food each week. These bags will include at least four meals and two snacks.  

The food BrainPower provides is kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare and nutritious requiring no refrigeration.
