Alula’s fight
Two weeks old. Eyes barely open. Found in the weeds at a county dump.
Little Alula was fighting for her life when she was rescued. Covered with fly strike and severely dehydrated, she and her sister were rushed to emergency veterinary care.
Sadly, her sister didn't survive.
But Alula did.
Today, she is safe at our Safe House, where she is receiving around-the-clock care. After several touch-and-go days in an incubator, she's taking a bottle every three hours, sleeping under soft blankets, receiving medication, and growing stronger every day. She's learning to walk on wobbly little legs and has even started playing with toys.
Most importantly, she has a future. That's the difference your support makes.
But there are so many more animals like Alula still waiting. Our Brighter Days campaign is all about ensuring animals like Alula have somewhere to turn when they need help the most. We are raising funds to keep saving animals like Alula all summer long.

I began my foster journey in February 2025, something I had wanted to do for many years and was finally in a position to pursue. Having grown up with animals, I’ve always had a passion for caring for others. Through a family member, I was introduced to Safe Hands, and their mission immediately resonated with me.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of fostering 24 puppies and dogs, and I continue to find the experience incredibly rewarding.
Fostering has shown me firsthand the unconditional love that dogs have to give, regardless of their past circumstances. Every dog deserves a chance, and each one has reinforced my belief that there are truly no bad dogs—just dogs in need of love, patience, and opportunity.
