The Minnesota Homeless Study is a point-in-time study aimed at better understanding the prevalence of homelessness and the circumstances of people experiencing homelessness in Minnesota

Your gift to the MN Homeless study makes it possible to conduct our state’s largest and most widely-utilized study of people experiencing homelessness. This year's study took place on October 26, 2023 and serves as the first study conducted since the COVID pandemic began. We know that due to the pandemic, shining a light on homelessness is more important now than ever. Your support is essential in planning and conducting thousands of interviews with people experiencing homelessness in order to identify trends in homelessness and publish reports for policymakers, service providers, and the public working to eliminate it.

PLUS every gift will be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar!

To double your impact, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a match fund of $20,000, generously provided by the family of Dick and Nancy Nicholson.

The Minnesota Homeless Study is the most comprehensive source of descriptive information about homeless adults, youth, and children in the state. More than 1,000 volunteers conduct interviews with more than 4,000 people experiencing homelessness in over 300 locations across Minnesota. The historical nature of the study allows us to look at trends over time, and the breadth and depth of the study allows us to look more closely at the experiences of the homeless population to pinpoint barriers to obtaining safe and stable housing.

Many organizations and government agencies rely on the study to identify and address systemic issues; this works to guide services, programs, and policies to support people experiencing homelessness; and track progress in efforts to reduce and ultimately eliminate homelessness in Minnesota.

Private financial contributions are essential to help us plan for and conduct thousands of interviews with people experiencing homelessness, identify trends in homelessness, and publish reports for policymakers, service providers, and the public working to eliminate it. Your gift contributes to the analysis of the 2023 study, allowing us to share results and inform the mission to end homelessness.
