As the seasons shift and winter approaches, we have a need for winter equipment for our Ely winter programming.

While summer draws many to the wilderness, Winter recreation captivates the hearts of local Northlanders and remains an under-utilized opportunity for year-round Boundary Waters events.

To truly embrace these winter opportunities in the BWCA, we need your support for our winter programming and acquiring essential winter gear. New equipment will not only enable us to broaden access to the Boundary Waters in the winter, but also be useful in fostering year-round outdoor programs for our local communities.

Our centerpiece, a versatile tent, will serve as a mobile classroom and a warm hub for outdoor events in winter. This tent is crucial for the success and safety of three upcoming ski trips planned from December to February. Equipped with a stove, it will act as an emergency measure against cold injuries, a visible structure for emergency responders, and a secure storage space for essential equipment vulnerable to freezing temperatures.

With a winter tent, ski pulk and ice auger, we’ll be able to offer a variety of programs that tap into the magic of the Boundary Waters in winter, in a safer and more comfortable setting.

Your contribution towards acquiring this winter gear and supporting our programming will raise the profile of BWCA winter activities, and also ensure the safety, accessibility, and inclusivity of our events. Your generosity fuels our mission to create a thriving and connected outdoor community. Thank you for your ongoing support!
