WHO WE ARE:

Welcome to Valley View Elementary School!

As part of Columbia Heights Public Schools, we are committed to creating college and career-ready graduates. We have a very unique way of laying a solid foundation for all of our students, PreK 4 through grade 5, to prepare them for success beyond elementary school.

Our diverse student population is 480 strong and growing. 73% of our students qualify for free or reduced meals, and 50% of our students are English Language Learners.

We believe the best way to educate children is to have families, the community, and school staff working together. Through this partnership, we can have a positive impact on the success of our children including our school uniform initiative.

It is important that we guarantee rigorous and relevant classroom experiences that focus on developing our students academically and socially. Some of the programs and initiatives offered at Valley View include AVID, Media Arts, and 1-1 technology for students in grades 3-5.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a framework that prepares students for college readiness beginning at our youngest grade levels. Our dedicated and committed staff create students that strive to achieve success at the highest standards by providing academic and social supports throughout their elementary experiences. We also strive to deliver experiences to create well-rounded students such as band, and art.

In addition to stressing the importance of performing at the highest levels academically, creating meaningful relationships with our parents and community members is a key factor in ensuring that our students are successful during their years at Valley View. We have an active PTO, numerous volunteers, and a supportive business community that goes out of their way to make sure teachers and students can be successful.

The core values of Community, Excellence, Collaboration, Integrity, Respect, Courage, and Innovation can be found at Valley View every day.

Everyone at Valley View elementary has a servant-leadership philosophy. Providing an exceptional education to our students is what makes our school outstanding
