$1,000 Goal

Neighbors for More Neighbors Education shows how housing and land-use decisions affect Minnesotans' access to secure, abundant homes.

Neighbors for More Neighbors Education was conceived 2025 in response to a fundamental shortage of education around housing supply and exclusionary zoning laws, specifically, policies that reserved the vast majority of urban residential land strictly for single-family detached homes. This structural restriction drove up rents and purchase prices, accelerated exurban sprawl, increased climate-damaging commutes, and reinforced racial and economic segregation by pricing low-income residents and communities of color out of high-opportunity neighborhoods.

N4MNE programming focuses on educating Minnesotans about the housing options that are possible if we change our zoning. Diving deeper, we also educate participants on the levers of power that city, county, and state policymakers have to control access to those housing possibilities. We seek to put the power to design the future in the hands of the Minnesotans who will be living it. We give people the context they need to understand the pros and cons of the current housing environment. When people can conceptualize their options, they are more empowered to take action to create the environment they desire.

P.S. If you are wondering about our logo, when the IRS originally recognized us as an organization, they added an extra space in our name. Thus, the EduCat Ion logo was born. We are rolling with it for now!
