Moe123 was founded in 2018 by the Sarim family of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota after losing their son and brother, Mostafa "Moe" Sarim, tragically and unexpectedly to complications of the flu. He was just 41 years old.

A lifelong learner, Mostafa was an alumnus of Park Center Senior High School in Brooklyn Park, Minn. and graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato in Mankato, Minn. in 1998.

After his death, the Sarim family discovered that Mostafa had kept nearly all of his awards, certificates, and school assignments in pristine condition. The decision to create a scholarship fund came naturally as the family was called to help the higher education journeys of passionate students who wanted to make the world a better place - just like Mostafa did.

The Moe123 Scholarship Fund is a non-profit scholarship fund, in honor of Mostafa "Moe" Sarim, based in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities metro-area that raises and awards scholarships to high school seniors from Osseo, Park Center, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center, and Champlin Park High Schools.

To date, Moe123 has raised and awarded $85,000 to 17 high school seniors in the Osseo 279 School District. New in 2022, Moe123 is expanding eligibility to include Brooklyn Center High School and Champlin Park High School.
