We fund critical needs to help the Two Harbors Public Library provide library resources, support community programs, and increase access.

The Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library recognizes that public funds are limited and that library resources may be underutilized in our community. We help strengthen outreach and visibility, and provide funds to increase access to a broad variety of library resources and community programs.

The picture shows our Library's beautiful multi-media artwork depicting a woman reading while seated in front of many symbols representing Two Harbors. It was created by local artists Tonya Sell and Nancy Miller and installed in 2014 with money from the Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

In 2016 we helped replace the century-old windows in our beautiful Carnegie Library, with historically accurate, but energy efficient, windows that fit the requirements for a building on the Historic Register. We've recently replaced worn carpeting throughout the library; increased the number of electrical outlets so patrons can plug in their devices; paid for a steel, fire-proof book drop and a fish tank and supplies for the kids reading area; and purchased meeting room tables, chairs, signage, and other equipment needed by the library but beyond their regular funding. We hold book sales and other events to raise funds; support bi-annual reading programs for youth, teens, and adults; fund monthly educational programs and author talks; offer incentives for new (young) readers; deliver large-print books to senior residences in Two Harbors; and have a presence at community events to promote the library.
