WACOSA's mission is to provide individuals with disabilities the opportunity to work and live in their community.

Who We Are

  • Founded: A 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 1963 by parents seeking opportunities for their children.

  • Scale: Grew from a grassroots effort into an $11 million service provider with approximately 130 staff.

  • Reach: In 2025, we served nearly 600 adults with diverse cognitive and physical challenges (e.g., cerebral palsy, autism, TBI), all of whom are functionally limited in three or more areas of daily living.

  • Locations & Funding: Services are provided at six sites in Waite Park, St. Cloud, and Sauk Centre, Minnesota. We are funded primarily through fees for service, grants, and contributions.

What We Do

We provide person-centered services and supports tailored to a wide range of needs: from individuals requiring complete daily supervision to those working independently with intermittent support.

  • Vocational Focus (Key Service): Our main programs emphasize productive work to build independence and self-esteem.

    • Employment Opportunities: Individual placement with community employers, work crews, and center-based work.

    • Support Services: Customized job search assistance, resume refinement, interview coaching, training, and follow-along services.

  • Senior Services: In partnership with the Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud, we offer leisure, enrichment, and volunteer activities for older adults with disabilities.
