House of Charity, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

Hi generous friends! As part of the next step in merging with St. Stephen's Human Services, we are now raising funds together using their GiveMN page. To donate, please visit this link: https://www.givemn.org/organization/Ststephensmpls

Feeding, Housing and Empowering can't happen without you!

At House of Charity we deal with real problems from real people. Be it Hunger, experiencing Homelessness, or struggling with Addiction, House of Charity provides services to help guide men and women on a path towards independence. No two cases are exactly the same, but recently staff have been hearing more and more stories about people who are barely making it financially, & need free meals at our Food Centre in order to keep their housing. Plainly put, these are men and women who do not earn enough at their jobs to pay for both food and housing. Julia is one such guest. She shared her story because she wanted us to know the impact we have on her life: “I can get free food here & that allows me to save money for rent.”

Please help us help others and #GiveAtHomeMN May 1st-8th!

Below you will find general information on the programs House of Charity offers:

Food Centre - Our Food Centre serves daily free, hot, nutritious meals to anyone who walks through our doors, no questions asked.  It is the only public meal facility in Minneapolis open 7 days/week and 365 days/year.  We typically feed 350 men, women and children each day.

Day by Day - An out-patient co-occurring chemical dependency and mental illness treatment program for adult men and women with chronic chemical dependency, mental health, and major life issues. Individual recovery plans are created to best serve each client. Counseling, health, wellness and workforce development training are provided.

Transitional Housing for the long-term homeless - We house 116 adult men and women who have been homeless for extended periods of time, have no financial resources, experience significant barriers to employment, and are in need of support. Included in this total is 14 beds for homeless Veterans that have been secured through our partnership with Veteran's Affairs.

Permanent Supportive Housing - House of Charity participates in Hennepin County's Housing First program. The program places clients in affordable housing in the community and incorporates supportive services.

Case Management - Every housing client, including individuals in Housing First, work with a Case Manager.  Clients set goals for the future and work toward them with a case manager as their advocate and guide.  Client goals typically center on permanent housing, education, employment, and improved relationships.

In order to provide food, housing, treatment, and support through case management for our clients and guests, your support is vital. Every dollar donated to House of Charity goes to making a difference in the life of an individual experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in our community. You can make a difference for those in need. Every gift, regardless of size, is needed and very much appreciated.
